Our truck is a 1969 Volkswagen single cab transporter.
After over a year of searching, we purchased the truck from El Paso, Texas and had it shipped here as soon as we could. We restored most of it ourselves, but had some professional help with repainting it and with the canvas hoop on the back. Thankfully, Heather’s partner is super handy, and an excellent mechanic!
The VW Single Cab is an excellent flower truck. The side gates fold down and the truck becomes a flatbed, allowing for easy access to our flower rack. We worked with some cool VW stores to help with the restoration. We received parts from California, Maine, and Germany.
Due to import tariffs throughout the ’60s and 70s, not many of these VW trucks were aloud to be sold in America – ( The chicken tax) is an interesting story to research about if you are interested.
We love unique, assorted flowers and greenery. When local flower farmers are selling product, we buy almost exclusively from them. Most of the farmers we work with are in the Grass Valley and Nevada city area. Buying local product is something we are passionate about and there so many excellent local flower farms.
We sell everything on our truck by the stem. We encourage everyone who visits us to build their own bouquets but we are always more than happy to help. We typically have the truck out on weekends, and we like to partner with other local small businesses. There are so many local business owners that have been very supportive of us, like Estelle’s Bakery and Patisserie, Shady Coffee and Tea, the Moth Hole, and DOCO. We also do photoshoots and private events with the truck! Contact us for more information about booking the truck if you are interested or have any questions.
